Bank Robbery on Halsted

Police confirmed a bank robbery earlier this morning at the TCF location inside of Jewel-Osco on Halsted.

UPDATED: Thursday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m.

Someone robbed the TCF bank inside of Jewel-Osco on Halsted around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Homewood police have yet to respond to questions, but Sgt. Denise McGrath confirmed, on location, early reports of robbery. More information will be available later in the day, according to McGrath.

The Jewel TCF is currently roped off and it appears detectives are working the scene.

Here's what we've been hearing on the H-F Patch Facebook page so far:

  • "At 9 there was 20 squads all over that area"
  • "Crazy nonsense! Smh...people are brainless these days! I wonder what makes them sit around and think....hhhhmmm..."I'm gonna go rob a bank inside a busy grocery store on a busy road today" seriously!!"

First you hear about all of the garbage in the Heights, and now this happens in Homewoood. The town used to be a really nice place to live but now, it's a dump and it's not going to get any better. It's Harvey gone south.

Homewood is still a really nice place to live. Things like this happen everywhere, including Frankfort, Naperville, Hinsdale...

Myles criminals travel they may not live in the area. Homewood is still a great community. These robbers and thieves target areas that are in-touched by criminal activity.
The expressway is right up the streets from
this Jewel they could have easily hopped on the expressway and headed to Chicago or Indiana. However I do understand your point. As long as we have uneducated, un-productive people without a desire to improve their lives we are gonna have crime.

And it is the responsibility of the parents to teach their children right from wrong, to stay in school and apply themselves academically. Homewood and Flossmoor schools are excellent. The trouble is that some parents don't give a hoot about their children, and then they turn to crime... possibly because the parents are also criminals.

Amen!! Southside. I love Homewood/Flossmoor as long as we don't coward down and move away it will not become a Harvey besides the real estate taxes are too expensive for anyone whose not employed.

Whatever happened to hyper-vigilant, gun toting security guards at banks? Do they exist anymore? I've not seen one in years. Perhaps the "robbers" haven't seen them either. Hence why their crimes have become so easy to commit. I truly appreciate direct deposit, drive through, and online banking.
