UPDATE: Boy Scout Leaders Delay Anti-Gay Policy Vote Until May

The decision whether to allow gays in the scouts has been held for about three months, as the organization faces strong pressure from people for and against gay membership.

Update: The Boy Scouts of America announced Wednesday that they will not make an official vote on its position on gay members until May.

One year after reaffirming its stance against gay membership, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will vote this week on whether to lift the ban, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The BSA board is convening at the organization’s headquarters in Texas to discuss the controversial decision, reports say. The board has said it will consider lifting the national restriction against gay membership, instead leaving the call up to local troop leaders.

A Wednesday vote will determine how the group proceeds, but there’s already plenty of influence on both sides of the fence.

On Sunday, President Barack Obama strongly voiced his support for equal access to the organization, regardless of sexual orientation. However, other notable figures such as Texas Governor Rick Perry—an Eagle Scout—say the policy is fine as it stands.

Should the vote pass, the decision to allow or prohibit gay members will be in the hands of local troop sponsors.

The "Yes" and "No" on the poll are in the wrong places. And the choices should read:
Yes - I support equality.
No - Private organizations should be able to discriminate based on sexual orientation.

There’s no such thing as equality in regards to people. Some work hard and some are lazy. Some are intelligent and others not so smart. Some resort to crime, most do not. Some are clean, some not. This notion of equality originates with the Jewish concept called communism. Look how that turned out. The same criminals who destroyed and are destroying Christianity, our constitution (at present it’s the second amendment), our money system, our morals, our country and world are now concentrating on Boy Scouts. They aren't happy unless the “goy” are corrupted. Anything good must be destroyed. Indeed throughout history they've prided themselves as destroyers. Nothing new here.

@Eric Blair - I'm not sure if you're just trolling or trying to be funny (if so, I apologize for taking it seriously), but what you refer to as equality is not actually equality at all. You state, as an example, "some are clean, some are not". Equality doesn't say everyone is clean or no one is clean, instead equality means everyone has access to shampoo and soap. Next point, Communism is not a 'Jewish creation'. The earliest mention of the idea that I've read is Plato, a.k.a. a Greek. I can't really comment on the factuality of the rest of your statement, but I find it hard to consider at all as it sounds like the same inane and unsupported driveling nonsense I've heard repeated against just about every angle of a demographic. In order to avoid what I believe your next misguided attack might be - no, I am not Jewish nor in a Jewish family, community, etc.

Eric- I agree with you that this country is heading down the path of communism. This however, is a issue of increased freedom and liberty for your fellow citizens and not one that restricts property rights, or personal freedom (these are the things you should be concerned about).

Pretty sure Plato didn't write the Communist Manifesto. As for you go ahead and praise your oppressors but count me out. FYI, Israel did 9/11. ALL major media Jewish owned and controlled. ALL major media on cue out to discredit the Boy Scouts and force fags on them. If it wasn't a conspiracy at least one would be against this misguided attack. Conclusion: what we have here is a direct conspiracy. I won’t write a 1000 page reference book. Do your own research if you wish.

Eric, Brian didn't say Plato wrote the Communist Manifesto, he said the earliest mention of equality he could find was in Plato's writings.

Isreal did 9/11? So all of your problems are the fault of the Jews and their control of the Media? Poor misguided you and the close-minded people like you. To quoute a line from the "Blues Brothers", "I hate Illinois Nazi's". Be sure you dress warm when you lace up your jack boots for your next march, it's cold outside and we wouldn't want any of our little nazi's getting sick,

I wonder if “Stones” realizes his rant is not his own. You've been conditioned to respond the way you did. Break out of it “grasshopper” and try something new, attempt to think for yourself. You can do it. The alternative is to keep living a lie. Most Americans fall into that. It’s easier to live with the lies than to challenge them. It’s you that has the closed mind. But you know that. BTW, bringing up Nazi’s with this page is really stupid, and revealing This page concerns the Boy Scouts and the pressure on them to pollute themselves with fags.

Despite popular opinion, homosexuality is learned behavior. People are always seeking ways to justify what they do so they call it genetic. That takes away accountability. If I own a store, I choose not to hire one who has learned to be a thief. If I have a young impressionable son in the Boy Scouts, I choose not to couple him up with a boy that has been taught to lust at other boys.

No, Debra, YOU are the one disseminating an opinion based on falsehood. Homosexuality is not a learned behavior; it is found in every single species that we observe. Tell me, who taught chickens, bison, whiptail lizards, bluegill sunfish, Appalachian woodland salamanders, blisterbeetles, or monarch butterflies to be gay?

Um, no it's not, Debra. If you're going to comment, please only do so on things you know something about. If you're going to use such silly analogies, we could follow that logic and state that schools should be segregated based on males and females because we wouldn't want them all in the same room lusting after one another and never learning anything. <face palm> Give me a break.

Homosexuality is a sin. And with all sins, there is a choice, and you are responsible for this choice. There are people that are attracted to the same sex, that refuse to act on it, because they know it's wrong.

No, they don't know it's wrong, they've been told it's wrong by a homophobic society that used to say that being black makes you a lesser citizen (and we STILL have quite a few of those who would take us back to that time). This is the same thing: ostracizing people because of who they are naturally. Their behavior is not harmful to anyone. The bible also says that wearing clothes made from different materials is a sin, but I'm sure you don't get upset about cotton/polyester blends... because it doesn't hurt anybody.

@Tony - you can believe whatever you'd like. However, your religious beliefs should not interfere with the basic rights of others. If you don't agree with being gay, good for you. I'm glad you weren't born this way. Why don't you let each person worry about themselves - you know, personal responsibility?

Man’s fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both; as one dies, so dies the other. All have the same spirit; man has no advantage over the animals. All go to the same place; all come from dust and to dust all return. Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?
— Ecclesiastes 3:19-21

I guess you'd better read your bible.

I think a Policy Change is in order. I do think Individual Troops should be able to decide for themselves.

Let me say I have worked with a Few people whom are LGTB and all of them are absolutely fantastic with Kids.

To Ms. Buffington-Adams
"If I have a young impressionable son in the Boy Scouts, I choose not to couple him up with a boy that has been taught to lust at other boys."

If thats your belief ,then the Choice if yours to pull him from the program or find a troop the does not allow homosexuality

Social issues such as this pale in comparison to the facts like, Obama/Congress hasn't had a budget in over four years and they continue to spend more than they take in, weakening this country on a myriad of levels. The Middle East is on fire, Iran/N. Korea are left to their own devises. Russia and China are yet another concern. The 2nd Amendment is at great risk and our govt is stockpiling guns/ammo... How about we start a gay Scouts of America, don't let in straight kids and call it a day. Seriously, who cares! All of this is distraction.

You all make it sound as if homosexuality is a disease that your child will catch if he/she is withing 30 yards of someone. It's not contagious, and if you are teaching your children what you are spewing, there are larger issues at hand. We are all still human beings, and should be treated as such. Doesn't a gay young man deserve the opportunities that BSA affords? I had no idea we still had such a long way to go on these issues.

Gay? No, it's HOMOSEXUALITY. Now that the pedophiles have been outed in the Church they need to flock to some other place to find their victims. They teach proper values in scouting that last a life time and do everything that is wholesome and good. If their intent was to obtain these values, then keep your sexual preference to your self. But that's not what they want. They want victims. I guess two Homosexuals adopting an new born child isn't (sic) enough. Change what is broken, not a national institution that produces MEN.

So let me get this straight (no pun intended), If there is a private organization that does not want me to be a member, the solution is to force them to do my bidding.
O.K., I want to be a professional football player. I think it is wrong for the NFL to discriminate against me just because I am not strong or fast enough to play on one of their teams.
I also want to be an Air Force pilot and fly an F-15. I have to wear glasses and they won't let me be a pilot for that reason. I think it is wrong for them to discriminate against the near-sighted. I was born this way and I feel that I should be allowed to be a fighter pilot.
While we are at it, I want to be Miss Black America. Just because I am a white, married male should not be a reason for them to discriminate against me. I was born a white male and chose to get married, but, they won't even let me enter their pageant.
These things sound kind of silly, right? Just like gays trying to force a private organization to change their rules to accommodate them.
If it is so important for gays to have access to an organization like the BSA, why don't they just start their own scouts and have whatever rules they want?

Boy Scouts of America had nationally segregated troops well into the the 1970's. Even though the first African-American Boy Scout Troop was established in 1911. Threats to burn uniforms if black children were allowed to wear the same khaki green.
Allowing children to be treated as equals allows for them to grow into find outstanding men.

What part of private organization is so hard for some to accept? There are a lot of private organizations that I can not join because of their rules. I can live with that, it is part of life. We can't all be the same.
If you force the BSA to change their rules, the organization will not be the same.
I am not against gays, I just don't think that people should have to change their beliefs to accommodate another group that has a different set of beliefs.
While allowing children to be treated as equals may allow them to grow into fine outstanding men, forcing an organization to change for whatever reason is wrong.
I have also noticed that nobody has mentioned the Girl Scouts. This organization is the way to go. They did not try to force the BSA to allow girls to be members, they just created a whole new organization. Seems to have worked out pretty well.

Here's the point I made. The BSA changed the rules. They do not force racial segregation any longer. And what happened? People accepted it. They moved on in their lives and there are plenty of scouts today and have children of different races in their troops. what belief did the BSA have to not allow black children into troops? It's hatred and discrimination and I certainly would not want that taught to my child or anyone else's child for that matter.

Sara,
You said" It's hatred and discrimination and I certainly would not want that taught to my child or anyone else's child for that matter."
I have a very simple solution for you and anybody else that feels that way, DON"T JOIN THE BOY SCOUTS!!! Don't support them in any way. Don't go to their pancake breakfasts or have anything to do with them.
You sound like the people that don't like a certain TV show or radio personality. If you don't like the way that they are doing or saying whatever it is that they do or say, change the channel.
It is the same for the BSA. If you don't like their policy on gays not being members, then don't be a scout. If they are such a great organization, except for that little discrimination against gays thing, then they are really not such a great organization, are they?
Start a new organization and make your own rules. You could even ban anybody that is a member of the BSA if you want to have that be one of your rules.
Just don't try to force an organization to adjust to your way of thinking, that is as wrong as the BSA trying to force you to stop advocating for gay rights.

Tobias Cichon

Hey B.S. - what you're saying is that you think it's ok to exclude based on a genetic trait, and that if you're not allowed to do that, then no one should be allowed to celebrate their genetic traits. Think about this - what does sexual orientation or skin color have to do with Boy Scouts? Nothing. BSA is not a celebration of being straight and northern occidental American. It IS specific to being a boy.

I said nothing like that. I said that they are a private organization with their own rules and if you don't like their rules, start your own organization and adopt your own rules.
The BSA also has a policy against atheists and agnostics. The policy against gays is against "open or avowed" homosexuals, I guess that was the first "don't ask, don't tell". The BSA contends that these policies are essential in its mission to instill in young people the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
So, again, I say if you don't like their policies, don't join. Don't support them. Don't allow your children to join.
I don't like the policies of the KKK. I will not try to change them, I will just not support whatever it is that they do.
Tobias, what will you want the BSA to do if a girl wants to join? Will you want to force them to change their rules to allow girls?
What about my desire to be the next Miss Black America? Will you fight that organization to change the rules and force them to have a white, married man be eligible for that honor?

Hey T.C. your ‘re so intent on being “politically correct” that you have never attained independent thought. Your thought process was programmed into your mind without you being aware. I would suggest you ask these questions, just WHO is behind this rush to add sodomites to Scouting and why? Also, just how are “They” pressuring the Boy Scouts and any other targeted organizations to give in to “Their” demands? What would/will be the REAL end result? Stop for once and THINK. Go below the surface, the answers are deep. And frightful. I’d tell you myself but then you’d just call me anti-Semite and ignore any historical research. And BTW, don’t think you’ll discover truth in 5 minutes. It will take months and years of putting the pieces together.

Eric Blair

According to research statistics virtually 100% of serial killers were/are sodomites. All the mass killers in the last 100 years also sodomites. Dean Corll, 27 young boy victims, John Gacy, 33 young boy victims, Gary Ridgway, up to 71 victims mostly female, Henry Lucas, up to 900 mixed victims, the list is long. Retired FBI profiler John Douglas showed in his book “Mindhunter” that all the serial killers he researched were in fact homo’s. Another FBI profiler who wrote a book on the subject was Roy Hazelwood. His book “The Evil That Men Do: Journey Into The Minds Of Sexual Predators” shines a light on these sick homosexual creatures. Also another overlooked aspect of these sicko’s is that many were/are also Satanist who enjoy the practice of ritual sacrifice of their young victims. I’ve done extensive research on this topic for a paper years ago and can testify that the known facts equating homosexuals to murder and other sick crimes could fill a 1000 page book (and indeed it has). You people defending these sodomites don’t know what your ‘re doing. Sara, your ‘re falling for the “smiling faces” could result in unspeakable crime against yourself and or others. There exist a descriptive word for you and other likeminded souls, FOOL. These sodomites do not belong in Scouting.

Not to mention the obvious, the sexes were kept apart for a reason, thats why you have the Girl Scouts, and the Boy Scouts! If boys that are attracted to boys and men that are attracted to males want to join and run the the Scouts, then a third and seperate option MUST be formed!
