The old Clark gas is in Hazel Crest, not Homewood. Can't wait to see the two big eye sores on Halsted torn down. Any plans for what is going to go there? A park perhaps?

I have to laugh at all of these people that think that those stores would even consider us. Whole Foods took forever to go into Orland. We have no chance. Maybe a used bookstore! LOLOLOLOLOLOL! Costco? Really ? Living in a dream world!

More like an Ultra or some other discount grocery store. Too bad the buildings can't be re-purposed instead of demolished, How much TIFF money will go to the new owners I wonder???

Its sad that people dont think outside the box. This would have been a great senior assisted living facility. Already built too....tear it down put in another gas station...People are too myopic.....

I remember swimmiing in the pools inside of that place as a kid and thinking how amazing it was! It's a shame that it's gone down in the dumps. I'll be interested to see what they replace it with :-)

I understand the doubt re: Whole Foods, but why Costco? Never thought of Costco as being uppity or too specialized? And way to support your neighborhood folks. If you don't try, you don't get anything. And a used bookstore would be welcome. In fact, anything would be better than a dilapidated hotel.

These are bank owned properties. They have to level them to make the land more attractive to buyers or developers.

I think we need a Bookstore i.e. Half price books or Books a Million. Trader Joes would be great.Krispy Kreme should go into the old Arby's. Maybe turn the old Caribou Coffee into a smaller version Bookstore/Coffee House a safe place where all ages can enjoy. The Best of Luck To Rich Hofeld For ALL he does for our town!

What profit driven enterprise would even consider investing in this area? Businesses are being robbed blind! The Federal government is increasing costs and regulations on business at a record rate. The state raises taxes every time one sneezes and the local environment is a disaster! That doesn't even begin to take into account all the crime in the area and how much of their investment will be either stolen or damaged by the numerous criminals in the area.

Tear down the buildings and turn the property into a nice park that the "children" can destroy and then start complaining about it.

Wake up people, there not going to build anything, just like the Glenwood theater or when the plaza gets tore down, just empty lots!!! Illinois is a dying state, over taxed with no future!!!!

I can see several things that would be FANTASTIC! Whole Foods...Yes!!, Traders Joe, Lowes, Costco, or a Fitness Center with the state of the arts machines. PLEASE NO NAILS OR HAIR SALONS!

I don't understand the negativity from some posters here. The businesses that have gone in on Halsted seem to be doing fine. I don't see why a business would not consider those sites desirable -- maybe not Whole Foods but certainly someone.

pray u get that Casino u need the additional revenue to hire more cops all over town and especially 183rd-to enforce the speed limit and 187th and the skate park on Harwood to keep the underprivileged bangers and wannabe's from mugging other kids
