Fifth Annual Flossmoor St. Patrick's Day Party

The Brennan-Levy family continues their ongoing annual St. Patrick's Day Parade tradition with a huge post-parade party at the Flossmoor Community House.

Hundreds of smiling Flossmoor residents gathered together at the Flossmoor Community House on Sunday, March 13 for the fifth annual Brennan-Levy St. Patrick’s Day Parade post-party.

“It’s just a fun time to get together, and talk to folks you haven’t seen over the cold winter,” Flossmoor resident Nick Etley said. This was his first experience with the Brennan-Levy tradition.

There were plenty of veterans though.

“This is my fourth time coming to the parade,” Vikki Burke of Flossmoor said. “I only missed one (because) I was having a baby that day.”

Burke said her favorite part about this year’s parade is that the Flossmoor police got involved, allowing the participants to march in the street for the first time.

Kevin Bolling of Homewood is also a regular attendee of the annual party.

“It's great this year… the festivities, the food, the bouncy houses,” Bolling said. “I think that it will keep growing each year, (although) I don’t know if it will get as crazy as the South Side Parade.”

Beyond the simple food and festivities, however, Sarah Sullivan of Flossmoor identified the general feeling all the guests.

“I personally love the community aspect of the parade,” Sullivan said. “I think it’s awesome to bring together everyone from the community and see the kids."

Thanks also to Girl Scout Troop 60144. Many of these 12 year old girls have been in Scouts together since they were 6 years old. They have participated in many service projects over the year. On Sunday they bagged and distributed many bags of popcorn at the party. Some were also able to stick around to pick up trash outside after the party. Remember these helpful girls at cookie time!

Thanks for remembering those girl scouts Jenny! And to think our girls started right in the basement of Flossmoor Community Church as Daisys.

A huge thank you also to Homewood Disposal who donated garbage and recycling service for the entire party.
