Flossmoor Holiday Parcel Thieves to Face Charges
The two individuals have been identified by police and are awaiting charges for stealing delivery packages.

Flossmoor police identified 19-year-old Carlton A. Lewis of the 3500 block of Golfview Ln. in Hazel Crest and 20-year-old Michael I. Anyiwo of the 1000 block of S. Western Ave. as the two men responsible for stealing packages from residents' doorsteps on Dec. 5.
Both Lewis and Marcus each received the following charges:
- Four counts of theft
- Resisting arrest

Flossmoor police identified two teens allegedly responsible for stealing delivered packages from residents’ front doors on the afternoon of Dec. 5, according to Deputy Chief Mike Pulec.
Pulec says police were called to the 2600 block of Wallace Dr. around 2:30 p.m. and found two teens matching the reported description of the thieves.
As an officer approached the two, one of the teens sprinted off, Pulec said. The officer chased the teen. Meanwhile, the other teen moved from the scene but was recovered and arrested just off of the 1000 block of Western Ave. The teen that ran off was never caught, but officers say they’ve determined an identity.
Charges against both individuals are still pending.
Pulec said they recovered most of the stolen packages near the immediate area, but some may still be missing. Police are asking residents living on or near the 2600 block of Wallace Dr. to be mindful of any stolen packages that may be lying around. If you happen to recover any of the stolen property, please report it to Flossmoor Police at 708-957-4500.
Flossmoor police offered these tips to avoid your own experience with parcel theft:
- Check with the delivery service to ask if they can leave the package at a side or back door instead of being visible at the front door.
- Alert neighbors of expected deliveries and ask them to hold the package for you or place it inside your garage or other area where it is not visible to would-be thieves.
- Keep up with the delivery of your package with its tracking number, which will give you an expected delivery date.
- Consider requesting that valuable items require a signature at time of delivery.
- Consider having valuable items insured.
- Consider having packages delivered to another location where someone is more likely to be present during delivery. For example, your workplace or a friend or family member's home.
- Notify the police department immediately if you see anything suspicious.
- Be a good witness by providing accurate information on suspicious persons and/or vehicles to include plate numbers, vehicle color and suspect description.

Don't worry. Our judicial system will slap the on the hand and let them go. The offenders will be smirking at the officers on the way out of court.

Sorry to say but these two look like grown men. I wonder if they live in Flossmoor. Good they got caught hopefully their parents will put them on punishment. Foolish thinking on me. They probably go celebrate at Red Lobster.

Hmmm, why would the above poster think that their parents would be "happy" & celebrate? Anyway, very very very sad. Young men & already starting off life on the wrong foot. I know plenty of parents who raised their kids "right" but could NOT stop them from doing crime, drugs & hanging with the wrong crowd. Often we should look at parents but at the end of the day our parents can not be held accountable for OUR actions. Hopefully some time spent in 26th & California will make them think twice in the future.

SMH. Said nothing about DNA, seriously??? Wth. Simple, there are teens & young adults out there who DESPITE having great parents make wrong choices. Often out of the environment & friends they choose to associate with. I bet in a million years Mayor Gonzalez who raised his kids "well" would not have thought his daughter would be on the Patch news for drugs, fleeing the scene & resisting arrest.
My grandparents raised 4 boys locally back in 50s. Rules, church, values the whole 9. 3 of them turned out great - the 4th is an addict & thief......so DNA my behind! I am part of that DNA and have never made those choices of criminal & drugs.

This is a prime example of being young and stupid. As the neighbor of the Flossmoor man, I know for a fact that he comes from a loving home and his mother has worked extremely hard over the years to provide a great life for her children. This young man has never lived in the projects and he is a full time college student home on winter break. Unfortunately he made some poor choices and may have chosen the wrong friends but he is a good person who made some stupid decisions so he will now have to face the consequences of his action.

I would like to apologize for the unfortunate decision made by these two young men. Both ate in college and made a BAD decision. A deserving punishment. Is to go to the prison and stay there over a few days to be Scared Straight, with community service. We Need to have more activities the community for our young adults and teens to entertain them.

I am sorry Concerned M but why should society be in charge of and responsible for paying for "entertaining" our youth? How about the parents entertain their children? How about natural consequences instead of excuses? Those might be two great young men, but facts are facts, they broke the law and they need to pay their debt to society. End of story.
