Flossmoor Metra Station Renovation Plans Jump the Rails

The plans for a $4 million renovation project for the Flossmoor Metra station are now on hold, as Metra is being forced to send the project back out to bid, following the original bidder's inability to complete the project.

Following the plans were derailed after the original bidder for the project couldn't follow through on their bid. After ZCORP Services, who was the low bidder for the project, was unable to hold their end of the bargain, Metra is again planning to put the project out to bid.

“Long story short, ZCORP was unable to meet its obligations to be awarded the bid,” said Michael Gillis, spokesperson for Metra. “So, we're going to go out to bid again. That is the process we're in now.”

Although the former low bidder couldn't complete the project, Gillis said that Metra still has plans to complete the renovations to the station and will put the project out to bid in the near future.

“We hope to have the bid out soon,” he said. “That probably means, depending on how long the bid process takes, that we won't begin work until 2014.”

As the bid process reopens, Gillis said that he wasn't sure how much the renewed project would cost, despite the previous bid of about $4 million.
