Flossmoor Police Blotter: Homeowner Reports More Than $38,000 in Stolen Goods

MONDAY, NOV. 28
Eric J. Leaner, 25, of the 3400 block of Golfview Drive in Hazel Crest, was charged with driving under the influence, speeding and no proof of insurance. Police said they stopped Leaner’s car in the 3100 block of Vollmer Road around 2:15 a.m. for driving 53 in a 40 mph zone and smelled alcohol on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer exam, according to the report.
A 66-year-old Flossmoor woman told police she received a bill from a collection agency for $6,000 worth of dental work in January, which she denied having done. She said the company told her a credit account had been opened using her social security number. Police gave her an identity theft information sheet and advised that she contact the three credit bureaus listed.
SUNDAY, NOV. 27
Driving with Fruit Punch
Alexander B. Brown, 22, 6200 block White Birch Lane in Matteson, was charged with DUI, speeding and illegal transportation of alcohol. Police said they stopped Brown’s car at Vollmer Road and Governors Highway around 4:15 a.m. for driving 50 in a 40 mph zone and saw a can of “Mikes Harder Fruit Punch” out in the open. He was arrested after failing a Breathalyzer exam, according to the report.
SATURDAY, NOV. 26
Three swords, two mink coats and other items totaling more than $38,000 in value may have been stolen from a home in the 1400 block of Lawrence Crescent between Nov. 22 and Nov. 26, police said. The homeowner told police he came home from vacation and found it ransacked. Police said they found the basement window lying on the floor intact. He also reported missing his 47-inch television, ceiling chandelier, bishop’s crown, antique phone, computers, Persian rug and various kitchen items, including a punch bowl. He told police he would contact his goddaughter, who was watching his dogs while he was away.
FRIDAY, NOV. 25
Police arrested and ticketed a 15-year-old Flossmoor girl for being in Flossmoor Park after hours, at 3:25 a.m. She told police she was walking to a friend’s house. She was released at the police station to her father, according to the report.
THURSDAY, NOV. 24
Possession of Cannabis
Trampas T. Strong, 42, of the 15800 block of Woodbridge Avenue in Harvey, was charged with possession of cannabis and speeding. Police said they stopped Strong’s car near Western Avenue and Vollmer Road around 4:15 p.m. for driving 50 in a 35 mph zone and smelled burnt marijuana. Officers found four grams of marijuana in Strong’s pocket, according to the report.
