H-F High School Student Dies After Brief Illness
17-year-old Arielle Terry died on Monday following the recent death of her 16-year-old brother.
Homewood-Flossmoor High School student Arielle Terry died Nov. 26 after a brief bout with a recent illness.
Arielle collapsed days after her older brother's funeral, Sun-Times Media reports. Keith C. Terry died Nov. 16 in a car crash on I-57 in Champaign County.
Terry recently transferred to H-F High School from Shepard High School in Palos, where she was an Air Force JROTC leader. Arielle was a part of the colorguard for the year-end JROTC awards ceremony. She received two awards at the July ceremony. The first, called the Daughters of the American Revolution Award, was for "dependability and good character, discipline, and leadership." The second, a Veterans of Foreign Wars Award, was given to her for "dependability and good character, discipline, and leadership."
While at Shepard, she picked up the nickname "Hard Core."
“She was extremely bright—college-bound,” said district spokesperson Jodi Bryant. “She wanted to lead and she wanted to serve. (Arielle) was well-liked by everyone.”
Services for Arielle have yet to be announced.

Im an old classmate of Arrielle's and we used to attend Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep. She was a wonderful person. I just could not believe that she passed and my prayers go out to her family. They lost two loved ones around the same time and I know its hard. It really is sad. My love and condolences goes out to her and her family.
