Her Closet Boutique Moving After 18 Years

The downtown Flossmoor upscale consignment shop will be relocating to Homewood within the next couple months.

After spending the past 18 years nestled in downtown Flossmoor, Her Closet Boutique consignment shop is packing up and headed a mile or so north to Cherry Creek Plaza in Homewood.

“We’re expanding,” owner Rose Demko said. “We needed more space.”

Demko says she’s been looking to move for some time now. A variety of factors influenced her decision, including rent prices, space issues and growth. She says she considered relocating within Flossmoor, but in the end, Homewood had the most attractive offer. And while the downtown parking issue is of slight concern, Demko says her decision to move has nothing to do with any grievances towards to village. The emphasis, rather, is on expansion.

“I shop local only and I only want to keep (Her Closet) in the community,” Demko said. “We’re kinda kickin’ it up a notch.”

An increased product line is promised to accompany the new Her Closet in Homewood. Demko says the offerings will be a mixture of new and old, upscale consignment. She also wants to start offering home decor items.

If all goes according to plan, Her Closet will move to its Homewood Cherry Creek location sometime in March.

Just wondering what Flossmoor's plan is to fill these vacant store fronts? We're at 3 so far...

We're happy "Her Closet" is moving to Homewood. We'll take all the stores that Flossmoor wants to give us.

Another reason to move out of Flossmoor and not pay the ridiculous property tax bill. Something is not right in our village.

Mike B. don't even argue with this nut-job (sister Elenita)
She's upset because she can't even afford to live here.

I guarantee this person joggle's her bills.
If she made some sort of a good living then she wouldn't bash this area.

Everyone seems to think this is about Braun and Hofeld. Isn't it really about the landlords and the terms they're offering? Dean Armstrong in Flossmoor and whoever owns Cherry Creek?
