IL State Treasurer Visits Homewood

Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford stopped by village hall last Friday to promote awareness of the statewide Cash Dash program.

While many of us were busy stuck in traffic or shoveling driveways last Friday, Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford was at Homewood Village Hall promoting the statewide unclaimed property awareness program.

According to Rutherford, there has been a major increase in the success of the Unclaimed Property Division’s (UPD) program, Cash Dash, last year. The program intends to reunite owners with unclaimed property.

Currently, the UPD has $1.5 billion in cash, plus contents from Illinois bank safety deposit boxes that have been abandoned for at least five years, according to a press release.

If you would like to check and see if you have any unclaimed property, visit the Cash Dash website. You can also learn more about the program by contacting the UPD via email or by calling them at 217-785-6998.
