Ex-2nd District Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. might face up to 57 months in prison after he was criminally charged Friday with spending $750,000 of his campaign funds for personal use, Sun-Times Media reports.
To be exact, the defamed former representative was charged with the following, according to the Sun-Times:
- Conspiracy
- Making False Statements

- Wire Fraud
The Sun-Times also lists the following items as allegedly purchased with misspent campaign dollars:

“I can’t comment on any of (those purchases),” Jesse Jackson Sr. told the Sun-Times. “I could not and should not. I don’t know enough about it. We’re close enough to remain prayerful and supportive. But, I don’t know anything about the legal details.”

Unfortunately, this is becoming the norm for elected officials in Illinois. "What can I do to serve myself and my friends" is asked more than "what can I do to serve my community". Let's not forget that the majority of voters in this district voted him back into office even though he was under investigation for fraud and misappropriating funds. So he DOES represent his district? Pretty sad
