Kelly Calls on Opponents to Release NRA Questionnaires: 2nd District Election
The 2nd District race is heating up as one candidate is calling on State Sen. Toi Hutchinson and former Congresswoman Debbie Halvorson to release questionnaires from previous elections.
Robin Kelly has called on former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson and State Sen. Toi Hutchinson to release National Rifle Association questionnaires they filled out in past elections, according to a press release from Kelly's campaign.
“I am calling on my opponents to release their previous NRA questionnaires so that the people of the 2nd Congressional District know what promises they have made to the NRA, and how they earned their ‘A’ ratings,” Robin Kelly said in the release. “I earned a lifetime ‘F’ rating from the NRA and I could not be more proud of that fact. The voters deserve to know how Toi and Debbie both earned ‘A’s’ from the pro-gun lobby, which is notoriously known for only issuing ‘A’s’ to its very strongest supporters."
Kelly's campaign touts her as the only candidate in the race to earned an ‘F’ rating with the NRA and criticizes Halvorson and Hutchinson for not releasing "the candidate questionnaires that earned them high ratings from the pro-gun group."
Halvorson and Hutchinson have yet to respond to Kelly's public request, but Hutchinson says she supports President Barack Obama on gun safety, stating on her campaign Website, she is "the only candidate in this race that has taken real steps to get military style weapons and high capacity clips off the streets by cosponsoring legislation in Springfield."
In a candidate forum on Sunday, Halvorson said she is in support of improving upon existing gun laws rather than creating new ones.

Has Robin Kelly ever help any legislative position of note higher than a PTA slot? Upon what would the NRA rate her if not a voting record????

Who cares how the NRA rates her. She is for the things in life that matter. LIVES! LIVING!.. She has been true to her word. Which many politicians don't know the meaning of. Honesty. I am a parent that will stand up and vote, and get others to vote for her. She has earned my respect. And that is not so easy to do.

Juvenal, Here's a link for you:

Kelly was State Representative for the 38th District from 2006-2008. She was also Giannoulias's Chief of Staff. I'm assuming that the 100% rating from Planned Parenthood of Illinois is indicative that she's pro-choice, not pro-life. I'll grant that it's a 2003 rating, but people tend to be fairly fixed in their belief on the question, Mitt Romney notwithstanding.

Well Becky said Kelly is in favor of "LIVES!" and "LIVING!" so I just assumed that if Kelly favors strict gun laws that might have kept 20 kids in Connecticut alive then she would sure support laws that keep 1 or 1.5 million babies alive each year...

It was a plausible inference, but incorrect. I'll note disagreement with your framings: Newtown is not a one-off, there have been repeated mass murders involving assault rifles, all too often at schools; and people of good will can disagree as to whether fetuses ought to be equated with babies.
But my interest here is not to re-open difficult debates that will not be resolved here, but to make sure that we're correctly assigning positions (and experiences) to the candidates, so that the choices each of us make are as well informed as possible.
