Homewood Village Clerk Campbell Resigns

Gayle Campbell is stepping down after serving nearly 10 years as Homewood Village Clerk.

In a slightly ironic change of roles, Homewood’s Village Clerk, Karen Washington read the resolution honoring long-time Homewood Village Clerk Gayle Campbell on her resignation from the position during the July 10 Homewood Village board meeting. Washington had only just been sworn into as the new clerk a few minutes prior.

Campbell was initially appointed as Village Clerk in May of 2003 and has been re-elected twice since then. In addition to the near decade of service she’s provided as clerk, Campbell has also been incredibly involved, serving as board liaison to the Beautification Committee, Heritage Committee and Plan Commission. Campbell also served on the Firemen’s Pension board and was an active member of the Municipal Clerks Association of south and west suburbs of Cook County and the municipal clerks of Illinois.
