Stolen Wedding Ring
Someone stole a wedding ring from a Homewood woman’s bedroom on the 3200 block of Mallard Drive sometime between Jan 1 and Jan 12, according to police.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 11
Man Pulls Switcheroo While Driving
30-year-old Marcos Villarreal of the 100 block of E 23rd Street in Chicago Heights received a slew of charges, including endangering the life of a child, after pulling a daring stunt while driving. Police say they attempted to pull Villarreal over near the 18700 block of Halsted Street after running his plates and learning he has a suspended license. Instead of pulling over, Villarreal continued driving and managed to swap places with the passenger, according to reports. The car finally pulled over on the 18500 block of Halsted and police say they discovered a three-year-old child in the back seat. A caseworker was assigned to check up on the child, reports say. Villarreal was charged with the following:
- Driving with a suspended license
- No insurance
- No seatbelt
- Reckless driving
- Failure to stop for an emergency vehicle
- Endangering the life of a child
THURSDAY, JANUARY 10
Speeding With Marijuana
A man was charged with speeding and possession of marijuana after police pulled him over for traveling 42 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone at 183rd Street and Harwood Ave shortly before midnight, according to reports. Police say the man had 2.5 grams of marijuana stuffed in the crotch of his pants.
