New Homewood Village Manager Appointed

Village President Richard Hofeld officially appoints Jim Marino as village manager in the wake of Ralph DeWitt's medical leave.

Village President Richard Hofeld officially appointed Jim Marino to the position of village manager, as of Wednesday, July 25.

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity," Marino said. "I've been with the village for 13 years. We have a great staff, very good department heads and managers and employees. I've worked with all of them, and I'm looking forward to continuing to work with them and the village board and help the village move forward."

During his 13-year tenure as assistant village manager, Marino has taken over as interim or acting manager on three separate occasions, according to a statement from the village. Most recently, he has served as acting manager since village manager Ralph DeWitt, who was sworn into the office in November 2011, left on extended medical leave this April. Hofeld declined to comment on the details of DeWitt's medical leave.

"Jim has been with the village for a considerable period of time," Hofeld said. "He's well-experienced in all facets of the village's operation, having been the assistant manager during that time. He's been the right hand of our village managers, going back to Dave Niemeyer, Mark Franz, and Ralph DeWitt, so he'll do a very fine job in that position."
