Firefighter to Be Honored for 20 Years of Service: On the Agenda

A preview of what's going to be discussed and voted on during Homewood's Sept. 24 village board meeting.

Homewood Village President Richard Hofeld and the village trustees will meet at Homewood Village Hall on Monday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Firefighter Honored

Village President Hofeld and the village trustees will recognize Homewood Firefighter Timothy Cameron Tuesday night for 20 years of service to the Homewood Fire Department.

Water Tower Painting

The village board will vote whether to redistribute $50,000 from the Sewer Lining Capital Improvement Program to help pay for the painting of the Homewood water tower located at 18355 Pierce Avenue for a total of $162,900. The contract for the water tower painting will go to Maxcor, Inc. of Lockport, should the board approve the agenda item.

Village Hall, H-F Auditorium Roof Replacement

The village of Homewood is working in conjunction with the H-F Park District to replace the roof of both village hall and the H-F Auditorium. Since both buildings share a roof, the replacement needs to be completed at the same time. Should trustees approve the agenda item, the village will contribute $163,000 to the project. Knickerbocker Roofing, Inc. of Harvey is the current proposed contractor for the roof replacement.

Homewood Seeks Property Acquisition

Trustees will vote whether to allow the village manager to purchase three vacant parcels of land at the northwest corner of 175th and Halsted Street for $28,000. The property is currently bank-owned by RBS Citizens N.A.

How about asking local businesses to chip in on the painting. Maybe give those businesses some advertising space on the water tower. "Home of Aurellio's Pizza" perhaps.
