Western Ave School Plans New Parking Lot; Flossmoor Changing Banks: On the Agenda
Flossmoor's regularly scheduled business meeting will be held at village hall on Monday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Mayor Paul Braun and the Flossmoor Village Council will meet tonight, Monday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. There will be time allotted for public participation and comments.
New Parking Lot, Playground Plans for Western Ave School
Included in tonight’s agenda is a proposal from Western Avenue School to create a new parking lot and driveway layout that relieves congestion during drop off and pick up times. In the creation of the modified parking lots, Western Avenue School plans on redesigning it’s playground area as well with an aim to reduce paved area, increase green space and eliminate existing connectivity with the north and south parking lots, according to Flossmoor Village Manager Bridget Wachtel. Extensive plans can be viewed in the agenda packet attached to this article.
Flossmoor to Change Banks
Also, during tonight’s meeting, the trustees will be choosing a new bank for the village. This comes after the Royal Bank of Scotland, current owner of Flossmoor’s Village Bank Charter One, recently made a decision to withdraw from providing government banking services.
“This was extremely disappointing news for the village …,” Wachtel said.
In Watchtel’s memo to the board (included in the agenda packet), she is recommending the village choose BMO Harris Bank to replace Charter One.
Other agenda items include a sewer cleaning contract and discussion of the fiscal year 2013 budget.
