Patch Picks: Great Community Service

This week Patch readers salute local folks who have made wonderful contributions to the community.

Annie Aboushousha, Sweet Annie’s

Renee Lamb nominated Steve Ploum of South Sub Music for bringing the community together and organizing the wonderful annual Music Fest.

The Brennan-Levy family, Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade Organizers

Sergeant Dave Tobin, Homewood Police Department

While some officers are hesitant in some situations Mr. Tobin has always counted on his instincts and that fact he was acting in the best faith and security of our community bringing incidents into successful conclusions," says Oglenpia T. I have never had the pleasure of meeting or working with Sgt. Tobin, but I think the others mentioned are all quite deserving of accolades. I have seen the hard work of each of them, and they are truly community-based people working for good, and I know each of them has spurred others on to do the same. Leading by example. Pretty powerful stuff.

Only 6 more months till St. Patrick's Day! Thanks to the Brennan-Levy family for putting together this wonderful event. Looking forward to having the involvement of Flossmoor Community Church again. The indoor facilities were a great addition to this parade. Great to see the Church supporting the families and community in their neighborhood.

Yes, Sweet Annie's has generously supported the community, so let's be sure we all support the bakery! The treats are delicious. Thanks, Annie. We appreciate all you do.

Thanks to Carrie and Maggie for educating and instilling good green habits into our children. Those habits will hopefully last a lifetime and make the world a better place.

Anne of Sweet Annies began with community service - in school district 161, then on the school board, and Religious Education at IJP! Her goodies are an extension of her. And we all love them!

Annie is the best-she loves to bake and share her baked goods whenever possible. she has the biggest heart I have ever seen when it comes to giving. I hope everyone visits her shop in F
Flossmoor. Taste her pastries-they are wonderful.
