Propane Tanks Vanish into Thin Air: Blotter

Homewood police reports, March 8-11.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 11

Propane Tanks Stolen

Someone cut the lock on the propane tank cage at Jewel-Osco, 3153 183rd St., and took four tanks. The tanks are located by the east doors. Each tank is worth $75, for a total of $300. No arrest was reported from this incident.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9

DUI Charge for Wentworth Driver

Lamara Brownridge, 19, of the 3700 block of Wentworth, in Chicago, was charged with improper lane use, driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, illegal transportation of an open container, driving without a license, driving without proof of insurance and obstructing identification. Brownridge was stopped after police saw her speed and weave in traffic. She was unable to show a driver's license or proof of insurance. An officer also reported being able to smell an extremely strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. During booking, she also submitted to a breath test. Police determined Brownridge was wanted on an outstanding Calumet City warrant for damage to property.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8

Car Burglarized

A woman told police her car was burglarized while she was in the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet & Fitness Club, 2920 183rd St. She entered the club at about 6:45 p.m. and, when she left after 9 p.m., she found the rear, passenger-side window broken. Her purse, valued at $200, was taken.
