Sandi Jackson Resigns from Office
The wife of the recently resigned Jesse Jackson Jr. announced her decision to the mayor in a letter on Jan. 11, NBC Chicago reports.
“With a ‘heavy heart’” Alderman Sandi Jackson resigned from office Friday afternoon, NBC Chicago is reporting.
As a representative of the people of the 7th Ward, I value the public trust which has been bestowed upon me and take my responsibility to safeguard the interests of my constituents seriously. Likewise, I am unapologetically a wife and a mother and I cannot deny my commitment to those most important personal responsibilities. To that end, after much consideration and while dealing with very painful family health matters I have met with my family and determined that the constituents of the 7th Ward, as well as you Mr. Mayor, and my colleagues in the City Council deserve a partner who can commit all of their energies to the business of the people

Jackson’s husband, Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned almost two months ago after an extensive leave of absence due to a mental disorder.
Reports say Sandi Jackson, like her husband, has been in the sights of Federal authorities for potential misuse of campaign funds.

Blah, blah, blah. They both resigned because if you are convicted while holding Office you lose your pension.
Just another example of a self-serving politician supported by uniformed voters. A constant in the Jackson household.
They have brought this misery on themselves thru deceit and greed. From a legal and emotional perspective they deserve everything the law will dish out.
The innocents here are clearly the Jackson children (who by the way don't even attend school in Chicago). I have compassion for them, none for S&J or the voters who continued to support them.

Any public servant found guilty of a felony or federal offense should loose their government pension. Isn't it bad enough the public has to pay for all the criminals that are locked up but also the elected officials that screwed them while "serving" the "best interests" of the public?
