I'm currently waiting to close on my first home purchase, here in Homewood. From my experience of exclusively looking in Homewood for the last 2 years, prices are definitely on the rise. The problem is the houses selling for under 120k are garbage. I have seen these first hand. They are the ones that people did not maintain. Not just for foreclosures, most of these houses have not been maintained or updated in decades! These super low prices they are selling are being flipped or invested in (I hope)- otherwise the new residents might as well be squatting. I still have hope for this town to bounce back, along with all of my friends that have been moving back the last 2 years.
