Step 3: Video/Photo Gallery Look at Pool Construction

During the final phase of construction of an in-ground pool at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox, the Aqua Pools team installed the liner and hooked up the filtration system. Splash! Then, it was time for the neighborhood kids to jump in the water.

Cool. The pool is open.

During the third phase of construction on a 20x44 in-ground pool at the Hufnagl residence in New Lenox, the Aqua Pools team installed the liner, hooked up the filtration system and dropped in a couple of other goodies, including a slide and diving board.

Soon after that, a neighborhood pool party broke out. (Thank goodness, the landscapers and fence crew guys kept up their end of the bargain.)

“Absolutely, we got everything ready right on time for the warm weather,” said Jim Eiler Jr., vice president and chief salesman for Aqua Pools, a family-run business that operates throughout the Southland.

Got goggles?

“It’s been a project, but it went pretty smooth,” said Andy Hufnagl, a 38-year-old lieutenant with the Alsip Fire Department. “The pool company did a great job. The landscapers and the fence company all got the timing down very well. So, everything went up pretty quickly. Everything looks great. And we’re just happy to be able to enjoy it.”

Andy and his wife, Angela, have one daughter, Autumn, 8, and are expecting their second child in December or January. Autumn is a member of the Lincoln-Way Gators swim team. She now trains—and plays with friends—in her own back yard.

“Yeah, it sure does become a vacation destination,” said Angela Hufnagl, who works as a dental assistant for Dr. John Marinucci in Chicago Heights. “Autumn loves to swim. So, it’s the best thing we could have done for her. Money well spent. I like seeing her smile. It makes him smile, too.”

Angela was pointing in the direction of her husband.

“I’m not much of a swimmer, but they are,” she said. “I’m looking forward to sharing this with family and friends—as many people as possible. Good times.”

Iala: Agreed on the shed idea. Hides the filtration system equipment and provides storage space, too.

Linda: The great thing here is the timing, don't you think? School lets out. The temperature heats up. And the pool is cool. Thanks for your interest.
