Bias can be demonstrated on what is covered, how it is covered, or if it is covered at all. So the Patch posted a few cartoons about someone. Big deal. One must look at the trends of what a media outlet covers and refuses to cover. The gun running by the Federal Government story is a good example. Which outlets cover it? Which outlets have refused to cover it? This example may not be a good illustration for the Patch as it is a local publication, but how have the national media outlets covered/not covered this? So, the question for discussion could be "How does the Patch cover/not cover/refuse to cover" the local news? What do they focus on? What do they regularly exclude?

Hernendo, it's very common for people to immediately go for the bias argument when a media publication puts forth something in a story they disagree with. I am only suggesting that you and others who get in a huff over the Romney cartoons, and conveniently stay silent when we run Obama cartoons, show proof of an actual bias happening here.

As you said, if the "question for discussion" is how we cover/not cover/refuse to cover local news, and our focus and what we "regularly exclude," what's the answer? Think of it as a challenge to put some actual meat behind these common, repetitive and defensive qualms any time a precious candidate is barely criticized.

Actually Denise, the Bush administration had Project Gunrunner. Fast and Furious began in 2009. Under Gunrunner, the guns were apprehended before crossing the border, unlike Fast and Furious.

Patch started in 2009 (and came to this area in 2010), therefore Patch couldn't have said anything--positive, negative, or neutral--about then-Senator Obama before the 2008 election.

As for the other news sources you mention, I do not see how Patch could be held responsible for their shortcomings, but just for fun, I tried a quick Google search of "2008 Obama concerns" and discovered a ridiculous amount of articles on mainstream sites dated before the election.

FYI, SouthSide, Romney was not charged for animal cruelty of Seamus although the incident was assigned a case ID for abuse. He is on the registry of at least two animal cruelty registries that are often consulted when people attempt to adopt from shelters. (Of course, breeders and pet stores do not consistently consult these registries, so the Romneys and people in similar positions as the Romneys have no trouble acquiring animals).
