Very excited about both new businesses in Homewood. Sweet Annie's has so many delicious things, and Karen Scobbie's cakes are the most scrumptious and lovely ever! Good luck to them both!

This is one reason we choose to live in Homewood instead of Flossmoor. We heard about how difficult the village is with codes and regulations in addition to having way too high of property taxes. I like the comment from Paula about the reserved parking. Just need Homewood to bring back the slogan Home Sweet Homewood. Will miss not being able to walk to Sweet Annie's occasionally for a treat. Wake up Flossmoor!

Very Happy for Anne, very sad for Flossmoor...not sure those parking restrictions helped Flossmoor or maybe they were looking for another empty store front.

So glad she's moving somewhere comfortable, albeit off the beaten path. It really is a miracle what she has been able to do with the livingroom-sized space she's in now. And yes, Flossmoor through its serial noncooperation with businesses, has chased her away instead of trying to keep with with some incentives. Unfortunately, a big part of going there has been running into parents we know from school and letting our kids stop off on their own for treats. The bakery has been as much of a community hub as anything else that exists, perhaps more so, and has brought the community focus back into downtown. There will be a big hole left in Flossmoor. I will sorely miss the camaraderie that could be found there any time of the day.

BUT, the absolute BEST part of Sweet Annie's is ANNE, herself! Wherever Anne goes, there's sunshine and flowers and unicorns dancing! Honestly, she is the sunniest human to encounter, and a treasure! Homewood's newest treasure! Welcome! Can't wait to sit in the shop with more than one person at a time!

Nice job, Flossmoor, in making businesses want to leave. People came from far and wide for Sweet Annies, who then shopped at the other local stores. We'll follow Anne, no question, and it is Flossmoor's loss. Its time for change in Flossmoor, for their anti-business actions, their antiquated laws, etc.

To bad for Flossmoor, but great for Homewood. Ann - don't feel guilty. Business is Business and when a town and landlord doesn't want to bend, you have to look out for yourself. You have been more than patient. Good luck and I will visit often.

Annie welcome to Homewood and thank you for staying in our Hf community! I know first hand how tough it can be to grow a business and stay close to home. Luckly in my business my heart and office don't have to be in the same town! Now that our Real Estate market is near the bottom I see better times for all the businesses and people in our Mayberry of the Midwest! One more thing.... Yummmmmmm!

Wow!! The Village of Homewood welcomes you. We can't wait!

As a Homewood resident, I am delighted. However, we were told by Annie that she would like to keep the Flossmoor location open, especially for the kids. She said that is why she opened the bakery in the first place. She made a proposal to her current landlord in mid-December. She asked if he would meet the rent/sq ft that she will be paying in Homewood. She also said she would be happy to vacate within 30 days if he found a tenant that would pay the current rent. He has not gotten back to her, as of yet. Come on, Mr. Landlord, give Annie a break, especially for the kids in the neighborhood.

Great opportunity for Anne, for Homewood, and hopefully a wakeup call for Flossmoor. I can't wait to visit Sweet Annie's new location - like everyone else, I'd follow this wonderful, sweet, kind and genuine lady anywhere, and am so glad she's stayed in our community!

Congrats to Anne and Karen!!! Now we just need Foosmoor Station and Fresh Starts to make their move!

Flossmoor's loss is Homewood's gain. I'm sorry that Sweet Annie's will now be a car trip instead of a walk away, but it'll be a short car trip and well worth it -- everything Annie sells is delicious and beautiful. Congratulations on the expanded business and best of luck, Annie!

Wow that's great news! It's too bad flossmoor wouldn't work with Anne to keep both locations open. She has a successful business that hasn't happened to that place in years (remember that scary kids clothing store that was there for a few weeks). What else do they envision in that location? Well we certainly will follow Anne as she is a great person and has the best baked goods in the area!

I wonder if she will participate in Flossmoor Market Days in 2013?

What is "hyper gourmet" chocolate? I tried Google and came up with nothing. Well, I did come up for why chocolate makes people hyper, but I'm pretty sure that's not the intended meaning here. (That aside, YEA! for the move and the expansion!)

A big loss for Flossmoor but I will be happy to follow them to Homewood where they have already given Annie designated parking! I do think the unfriendly parking restrictions in Flossmoor were a big factor in Annie's move. With so few businesses in Flossmoor I would think the Mayor would do everything he could to keep such a thriving bakery in town. Obviously Homewood has rolled out the red carpet! Great for Annie!!!!!

Glad Annie is staying in Homewood-Flossmoor. I can't wait to be able to walk up there with my family. Welcome to Homewood!

Sorry that all the complainers abour parlking restrictions due to space restrictions have not grown up yet.

Chip -- I never said it was a parking issue.. That was implied as part of the decision to move in the fifth paragraph.

I also did not say that cheaper rent was an issue. ( It was never mentioned is it was cheaper per square foot) I understand the need to expand due to business need.
