Theft Suspect Takes to Expressway on Foot; Home Invasion: Homewood Blotter

Homewood police reports, Jan. 23-24

TUESDAY, JAN. 24

Expressway

Police said they only managed to get one handcuff on a Dolton man before he fled down the I-80 expressway on foot.

A car containing Edward Hall, 20, of the 100 block of Glen Lane in Riverdale, and Antoine Patterson, 20, of the 15200 block of Oak Street in Dolton, was curbed at the Halsted Street off-ramp around 7:45 p.m. following a report of a retail theft only a few blocks away. After being ordered out of the car, Patterson, a passenger, took off running, but was stopped by Thornton police several minutes later, according to the report.

Patterson was charged with retail theft and two counts of resisting a peace officer. Hall was charged with felony retail theft. He’s on parole for charges related to robbery and burglary, police said.

MONDAY, JAN. 23

Retail Theft

Tammy Kocsak, 34, of the 17900 block of 66th Court in Tinley Park, was charged with retail theft. Security at a store in the 17600 block of Halsted Street told police that Kocsak left around 6:45 p.m. without paying for clothing totaling $202 hidden in his backpack. He was stopped outside the store, police said.

Domestic Battery

Ariel Perez, 22, of the 800 block of Ridge Road in Homewood, was charged with domestic battery. Police said Perez pushed a woman inside his home around 8 p.m., causing her to fall over the couch and onto the ground. He had an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license, police said.

Suspected Home Invasion

Police are looking for a group of six people who may have rushed a house in the 1100 block of 187th Street around 4 p.m., striking a man, damaging parts of the dining room and stealing an Xbox 360. The few discernable details of a redacted police report show that two juveniles in the home at the time were related to one of the men police are looking for. The victim refused medical treatment. Damages and the loss of his video game system total an estimated $360.

Police report information is provided by the Homewood Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.
