Vote: Who Has the Most Loved Pizza in H-F
The Patch Pizza Playoffs are under way, and we need your help picking the best independent business in H-F.
The time has come for us to answer the eternal question: Who makes the best pizza in town?
Patch is on a mission to find the most loved pizza in the Southland and we need your help to select a winner. All week, I have been hearing from the H-F Patch Facebook fans about who makes the best pie in Homewood and Flossmoor.
Now it's time to put it to a vote. The winner of the H-F round will go on to face the best other towns have to offer. In the end, only one pizza pie will be left standing.
We decided to limit the competition and did not include national or regional chains and franchises. Voting will end at midnight on Sunday, Feb. 5. We figured pizza and the big game go hand in hand.
You will be able to vote once per day, so get out the word to all your friends and let them know your favorite place is in the running for some serious bragging rights. Let's show the rest of the Southland what we've got to offer.
While you are at it, you should also leave a review of your pick in the Places Directory. I am sure they would appreciate the love.

Where is Aurelio's? It's no contest without them.

Hi, Ken.
We decided, as a region, to only include small pizza operation for this contest in effort to maintain a more even playing field.
Aurelio's was included in a fairly recent H-F Pizza Chowdown Showdown, however. They walked away from it victorious. Here's their winning video profile: http://patch.com/A-qmTK

I enjoy Aurelios, however my family likes to change things up sometimes. Also Aurelios is getting a bit pricey!

I agree with Ken - You can't have a contest without including Aurelios. Your title "Who Has the Most Loved Pizza in H-F" states pretty clearly this is a contest of favorite local pizza. Your "regional" dictatorial exclusion of Aurelios "to level the playing field" is just ludicrous, unfair and undemocratic.
You even go on to say Aurelios already won a previous contest so why are you doing it again and excluding them?? Didn't you get a second and third place winner before?
Why not think out of the pizza box and find another contest topic that applies to the other businesses you seem to want to give preference to that just can't compete with Aurelios? Best Brauts, Best Beer, Best service, Best value, Best Bar food, cleanest restaurant, - whatever - Making up your own exclusionary rules makes this "contest" a sham and in my opinion just reflects poorly on the patch to remain any kind of believable, unbiased news source.

At the risk of being tarred and feathered, I think Aurelios is one of the weakest pizzas in the chicagoland area. I don't get the draw.

I agree with Steve here...Aurelio's pizza is far over-rated. Plus the price is crazy anymore. Can go to Glenwood Oaks and get an appetizer, steak/ribs and a glass of wine for the same $$s and be much more satisfied.

Actually, an executive at Aurelio's recently suggested that we limit our scope in a pizza contest like this to independents and not franchises. He was certain that Aurelio's large fan base would blow the mom and pop operations out of the water on the voting. We may do a chain/franchise poll one day: Aurelio's vs. Beggar's vs. Giordano's vs. Nancy's? Who would win that one?

It says we want to find the best pizza in the southland/south suburbs. There are more than one Aurelio's Pizza in the south suburbs and they are not all created equal. Some people may not have tried the Homewood one (which is the best) and only tried others which they thought weren't as good so I'm glad there is a poll for independent pizza places where there are only one.
