What Should Go Here? Empty Space in the Flossmoor Commons

One of several empty storefronts in the Flossmoor Commons, the location at 3325 Vollmer Road could be home to any number of businesses in the future. Patch wants to know, What Should Go Here?

The Homewood-Flossmoor area is a bustling community that would be a fit for many small, locally owned businesses that are looking to get off the ground. Business locations in the area can host a variety of business types, from carryout restaurants to grocery stores and more. One such location is at 3335 Vollmer Road in the Flossmoor Commons.

The space, which is 1,655 square feet, shares ample parking with three anchor tenants: Kluger Furs, Marc Alan Salon and a gourmet pizza shop.

Located at the intersection of Vollmer Road, Governors Highway and Kedzie Avenue, the location sees heavy traffic flow daily and is within the Flossmoor area, which has a average household income of $167,000.

Although the location is empty now, Patch wants to know: What Should Go Here?

I don't know about this particular space, but I would love to see a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods in the community.

Agreed; although that's not the right spot with Bizio's just across the street. We could use another coffee shop or a bookstore, or a jeweler, or, with Kluger's and Little Colony closing, a furrier or nice children's store.

Hey, Chris~
Kluger Furs is NOT CLOSING. Only the outlet is closing for the season. Kluger Furs has been in Flossmoor Commons since 1989, with no plans on moving. We believe in our community.

Mrs Kluger - you should rethink your signage. I, too, thought you were closing.

Thanks, Amy. I appreciate your suggestion. The sign was located above the outlet doors and clearly stated Kluger Furs Outlet was closing. In addition, all advertising said the main store will remain open, only the outlet is closing for the season. Since it is now closed, we are removing the sign. Perhaps you can help spread the word!

Not being a Kluger's customer, I wouldn't know the difference between the "outlet" closing (quietly now... "for the season") and the store closing. I'm confident I'm not the only one wondering why your doors are even still open. Just looked like one of those really, really long going out of business sales.

I think that space should be used as a detention center for all the shoplifters at Flossmoor Commons and surrounding area.

I think it would make a great spot to rent out to exhibitionists. With one way privacy glass, people could see out...but not in. Let them do what they want inside...as long as they wash it down when they're done. Call it "The Glass-ence Suites"
