You Picked It, We Sang It: Patch Editors Perform Readers' Choice of Worst Holiday Song

Last week, we asked Patch readers which holiday song drives them the craziest. They gave us their answer and we performed it.

Beating out such Christmas "classics" as Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, Wonderful Christmastime and I Farted on Santa's Lap, the Wham! song Last Christmas was our readers' pick for the absolute worst, most annoying holiday song there is.

So of course, we had to sing it for you.

Performing from Ed & Joe's Restaurant and Pizzeria in Tinley Park, your local Patch editors, aka 'Outta Sync, aka The Rhythmless Nation, aka Dennis' Menaces, bring you George Michael's classic tale of love, loss and awesome '80s hair.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

See the 13 candidates for worst song and keep voting (although we're done singing).

Jack, we could use more singers. Care to join?

Nancy, thanks. We'll be seeking out pro bono vocal coaches for next year.

Russ, are you really saying you want to hear us sing again? Think about that for a second.

Ben, thanks for the invite. However, if I were to join in the vocals, you guys would lose all of your readership!

Jack, I was a little worried that'd be the result of this whole thing. Thanks for playing along everyone.

@Concerned Citizen:

I think if you listen closely I actually sound like one of the canines in that dog chorus.

This is hilarious! But I have to disagree with this being the worst Christmas song. I LOVE this song! You rule, George Michael!

Korrina, we left it up to our readers to decide and it was a VERY close race between this and "I Farted on Santa's Lap."

...I'm really relieved this won.

:)

BUT I agree, I sing this every time I hear it on the radio. And I particularly enjoy the Glee version, as well.

I don't know about you guys, but the dance moves at the end really rocked my socks off. Renita was a star!

Glad to hear this didn't totally kill the song for people who like it.

Sorry - Just getting around to seeing this. Great job Patch editors. I voted for this, and instead of just hating this song, I now have something fun to think of the next time I hear it. Would be interested in seeing the 12-20 version too. LOL

Ryan was cameramanning during the song. The real question is why did Carrie, Lorraine, Dennis and the rest chicken out. (Chicago Heights Patch Editor Chris Paicely has the best excuse; his wife was giving birth to their new son.)

I think those who chickened out should gather and perform the song that came in second...?

I think there may be a Maryland Patch region who might want to challenge you to a sing off next year. Doug Donovan, what do you think?

Adorable. This is, in fact, the most annoying Christmas song ever. I had it stuck in my head all season, but didn't realize it was from the '80s!
