Barack Obama Wins by a Landslide in St. Joseph Parish School’s Mock Election
If next Tuesday’s election was to be decided by students at St. Joseph Parish School, Barack Obama would win another term as president. Obama received a whopping 86% of the votes compared to only 14% for Romney.
The Homewood school was one of 11,000 schools in the nation that participated, via the internet, in the mock election called, “Every Kid Votes,” which was hosted by Studies Weekly. Junior High Social Studies teacher, Mr. Brian Wetherald, coordinated St. Joseph Parish School's participation. Students from kindergarten through eighth grade were able to exercise their “voting” rights. Mock voting booths were set-up in the sixth grade classroom and each student received an “I Voted” sticker after casting their ballot. Preschool students were also able to participate in the ”election” process by creating decorations for the voting area.
“I think that learning about the election process and having an open discussion about candidates and what they are supposed to stand for is important for every single American, young and old, especially during these tough times in our country,” Wetherald said.

Mitt Romney wants federal dollars to be attached to the student, so that the parents can choose what school they want their child and the $$ to go to. That includes private schools like St Joe. I know it sounds crazy letting the parents choose! It would solve the problem of having out of district kids sneaking into our schools too, because their dollars would come with them. It would force the schools to compete against each other and failing schools would have to be held accountable financially for their poor performance. (Like most things are)

Right now kids are sneaking in and no dollars are coming with them. At least if they are going to come we should get some money coming in to offset them burdening the system. We are spending huge resources tracking and removing out of district students right now and for years past.

2012 and we still have hate rhetoric. Im glad our kids are looking to be united as one and not take after generations of hatred in their famlies. The Bible says,".. and the children shall lead them". :-) Imagine if we had a disaster like New Jersey and no one would help one another because they were raised to hate someone because of the color of their skin. Im glad they aren't behaving that way on the East Coast. God keeps sending us messages through storms. The time is now to unite. Each one reach one.
