James Hart math intervention teacher Carole Smith was presented with School District #153's Jerry Morin Excellence in Education Award.
The quarterly award recognizes outstanding teaching in School District 153 and was established in honor of former school board member Jerry Morin who retired in 2007 after 14 years of service.
District 153's Board of Education honored Smith during its Oct. 9th meeting. James Hart Principal Michael Klein said Smith was recognized for her commitment to ensuring that her students grow and improve, her willingness to integrate new technologies into her classroom and for her positive and upbeat demeanor.
"Carole is always trying new things in order to better serve her students," said Klein.
