James Hart physical education teacher Marci Breed was presented with School District #153's Jerry Morin Excellence in Education Award.
The quarterly award recognizes outstanding teaching in School District 153 and was established in honor of former school board member Jerry Morin who retired in 2007 after 14 years of service.
District 153's Board of Education honored Breed during its Oct. 11 meeting. James Hart Principal Michael Klein said Breed was cited for her role in developing the district's physical education curriculum and for her willingness to give her time and talents to coach and sponsor after-school activities.
"Marci has a way of making each student feel special and important," Board President Shelly Marks said.
