Parker's First Choral Concert is a Success!

On Tuesday, November 13th, the music department of Parker Junior High School presented their first choral concert of the school year. The concert featured 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students conducted by music teachers Roberta Shaffer, Lori Evenhouse, and student teacher Ryan Martinez, and showcased vocal music from cultures around the world. Selections included folk music from Great Britain, Japan, Macedonia, as well as American folk music. Allie Mangel (violin), Stephen Morrow (percussion), Emma Novak (percussion), and Alex Wright (flute) were featured instrumentalists with the choirs along with accompanist Mr. C. Christian Dederer.  Soloists for the concert were Nina Harris, Joy Woods, Erica Siliezar, Maggie Sullivan, and Maddie Davidson.

“It was really fun to perform our songs!” said 8th grader, Eliza Sykes. “We worked really hard on our songs, so I loved finally performing all of them for the audience.”

Sixth grade student, Jake Behler commented, “All in all, the performance was amazing. Each part was very different from the rest. I can honestly say I am looking forward to the next concert.”

Upcoming music department concerts are the Winter Band Concert on December 4th, the Winter Orchestra and Vocal Ensemble Concert on December  11th , both in Parker Junior High School’s North Gym.
