Hurry! Apply for Federal Flood Assistance Before It's Too Late

Local small businesses may also qualify for low-interest loans.

Time's almost up to reach out to FEMA for help with damage from April and May's storms and flooding. 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the registration deadline by 15 days to July 24 for federal assistance from the storms and flooding of April and early May.

Residents of 35 counties are now covered in the Illinois disaster declaration for severe storms and flooding from April 15 to May 5. Local counties included in individual assistance include Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake and McHenry.

Individual Assistance for homeowners and renters can include grants to help pay for temporary rental assistance and other serious disaster-related expenses not met by insurance or other assistance programs. 

Low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.
