Totally do not "get" Hernendo's comment. But they should do this at least thru Jan15 and most definitely on this Sat and next Saturday for people who like to keep their Trees a little longer & those who cannot get them there except on weekends.

Thanks so much for sharing feedback, Lynn, which helps our resident-led program improve each year! We will definitely take your suggestion of longer drop off dates into consideration for the future. This year we extended the Tree drop off dates from December 26 through January 10 to accommodate more people and their schedules. Trees could be dropped off at Irons Oaks anytime during this period and the response has been very positive. The Community Drop off date last Saturday, January 4th was a service for those who'd like a little extra help or would like to drop off lights for recycling.

I'd also love an extension through the 15th. :)

We did it! Congratulations to the Homewood-Flossmoor Community on this years Tree Recycling program. We collected an estimated 500 Tree's saving them from landfill and giving them new life at Irons Oaks. Holiday lights are still being accepted at 6 community locations through Monday, January 20th. Thank you!

I think the Tree and Light Drop offs should both be offered thru the 4th weekend past Christmas as must people like to keep their Tree up until at least NY Day and many until at least Epiphany-- and others like to use their Tree to Decorate for the Birds and Squirrels with Suet in order to enjoy their Tree a bit longer as well as provide Food for wildlife.
