Late 20s Couple Looking to Buy in Homewood

Thoughts on the community?

My husband and I are looking at the dowtown area right near the train, we don't currently have any children but are planning a family in the near future.  Is this an area that will be a good place to raise kids?  I'm originally from the Frankfort/Mokena/Tinley Park area but have been living in Chicago for years - it's time for us to settle down and I've always heard great things about Homewood & Flossmoor.  Any commentary would be appreciated!
