A Homewood Fourth of July: Parade, Festival Fun for All

Check out what the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District has planned for July 4.

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District has quite the day and evening of fun planned for a hometown holiday this July 4.

The fun begins at 11 a.m., with the Homewood Fourth of July parade. Hundreds of participants representing local service groups and businesses from throughout the Southland will join the march from Dixie Highway, east on Ridge Road. The parade will include a variety of bands including Dixieland band, fife and drum line, and several marching bands. And don't miss the horses, stilt walkers, clowns, and a variety of decorated floats as the parade heads east on Ridge Road to the Izaak Walton Nature Preserve and baseball fields near Center Avenue.

Stick around after the parade, for the family fun fest at Izaak Walton—which includes hula-hoop contest, games, strength challenges, prizes and more from 12 to 3 p.m.
