Artists Showcased, Homewood Vehicle Stickers Expiring, New Lights for Flossmoor

Works of art created by talented students from five local high schools are on display at Prairie State College's juried art exhibition.

The annual exhibit, titled "Verge," features young artists from schools across PSC's district.

All Homewood parking stickers expire on April 30. This includes Overnight Parking Ban Exemptions, No Parking Ridge Road Exemptions, Central Business District Business Exemptions and Central Business District Residential Parking.

Individuals who hold any of these parking stickers must renew the parking sticker during April and May. A new application is required each year.  

The 25-year old pedestrian lights located in downtown Flossmoor are being replaced thanks to a state grant.
 
The village was notified in March that it received a $200,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity toward the replacement of the entire lighting infrastructure throughout the village's Central Business District with energy efficient lights.

The Village of Flossmoor is seeking resident volunteers to fill vacancies on the Flossmoor Public Art Commission. The commission serves as a volunteer advisory group to the Flossmoor Village Board and is comprised of members appointed for their interest in and support of the arts.

The commission is looking for residents with grant writing and/or fundraising experience to assist in furthering their mission to bringing artwork to Flossmoor as part of the Sculpture Rotational Program.

The South Suburban Family Shelter will receive a 5 percent rebate on Jewel-Osco gift cards when purchased directly from the shelter. The gift cards may also be used at Cub Foods, which is owned by the same parent company.
