Cinco Ways to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo: Patch Picks

Check out this feature to help you plan your Cinco de Mayo celebrations!

Want to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the locals? Here are our Patch picks of places where you can celebrate this Mexican holiday.

  • Head over to in Homewood on Thursday, May 5. A Mariachi band will be there from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., a DJ  from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and a Magician will perform  table tricks from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A variety of dishes will be served buffet style from  noon to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • If you want to spend time outdoors, head to the Cinco de Mayo Festival in Chicago's Little Village, May 6-8 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. You can enjoy music, food, arts and crafts in what locals call the heart of Chicago’s Mexican community.
  • Find out how big the “giant burritos” really are at the in Chicago Heights.
  • Eat in or take out at in Homewood.
  • Carry out your Cinco de Mayo feast at What a Taco in Country Club Hills, 18217 Pulaski Road.
