Eyesores and Health Care: Feedback Friday

We take a look at some of the topics that had H-F readers talking this week.

H-F Patch readers had plenty to say about topics that hit the news this week, and were particularly vocal on our Facebook page.

Besides the , two other stories captured the attention of readers this week.

H-F readers had plenty of suggestions for Flossmoor Hills resident Nina Cooper, who expressed her frustration at the eyesome house that sits next door to her home in the 700 block of Elm Street.

said, "Nina Cooper needs to go door to door and rally her neighbors and go march to Mayor Braun's house and demand a solution -- obviously the fines this "investor" has incurred means nothing -which is way he continues to allow the property to decay -- seriously how hard is it to have a dumpster removed -- one phone call -- he's not even motivated enough to do that because he knows all he has to do is show up at the meetings, makes promises he's not going to keep and incur another fine -- If an emergency referendum needs to be added to allow the board to be able to take more action than accepting promises and issuing fines than DO IT!!"

Like Cooper herself, Rich Evans was skeptical that the homeowner will clean up the property:  "In that case, I can't imagine that those fines are going to help him get into compliance. One could buy a lot of dumpster pulls for what they cost."

And David Parry offered a suggestion, "I know some good demo guys, haulage companies and a moldy/arsebestosy guy who's always on the look out for a short commute ;-)"

A 15th District Senate candidate has joined in the discussion about health care offerings in the southern suburbs.

Donna Miller said medical care problems are her chief concern and said the area needs a trauma center.

Here's what readers responded:

said, "I completely agree but I'm tired of candidates who want my vote telling me the things that need to be done - jobs, healthcare, etc -- I know that. What I want to know is HOW do you plan to fund these projects when the state can't even fund it's own pension!! I'd like to hear these candidates say WHERE the money is going to come from? It all sounds good until you need to fund it - less pretty talk and more reality please."

said, "A trauma center is needed in the south suburban area. The ex-mayor Daley knocked down the section 8 government housing Chicago and many of the gang bangers moved south. The customers for a trauma center are here now."
