Finding Funds Around the House

Did you know you might have money hiding in your house?

One of the best ways to start finding money in your house is to clean it, room by room.

The first place to sort is in your piles of mail. I have found credit cards, gift cards and rebate checks that I missed the first time around. Shred what you don’t need after. There’s a great shredder on sale in the ad this week, and here’s a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $40 or more to make it even better!

Get organized for less, so you don’t lose any more mail, coupons and freebies. Start by buying clearance school supplies. You can go to many places, such as , Walmart and , and get clearanced pencil boxes, locker organizers and other organizing items for 30 to 50 percent off. Use these items to organize your home office, kid’s school supplies and mail.

Sort through your clothes to save money and time. Local savings blogger Jill Cataldo recommends emptying out drawers and figuring out what your kids do and don’t, clothingwise. You can do the same for your work clothes. After you’ve decided what you are keeping and what you can part with, you can make money in a variety of ways. If you want to donate your clothes, many places are in need such as the and NAWS Resale Shop.

You can also sell your clothes on Ebay or Craigslist, or you can try a consignment shop like the and . Once your closets and dressers are clean, you’ll know what you have, what you need and it will save you a lot of time!

You can sort through your pantry and kitchen the same way.  and knowing what you have will save you time at the grocery store. You can find a free pantry inventory form online to know exactly what you have so that you can stop purchasing doubles.

If you get started, you’ll be shocked at how much money you can find and save just by cleaning and organizing!
