Five Holiday-ish Things to Do This Weekend

Here are a bunch of local things to do in the spirit of the holiday season.


Having holiday event withdrawal now that and are over? Don't fret...here are five things to do in this weekend that are chock-full of holiday cheer.

When: Friday, Dec. 9 - 7:30 p.m.

Where: Kindig Performing Arts Center on South Suburban College's main campus, 15800 State St, South Holland

Cost: Free

Join the good cheer as the SSC Voices, PAC Rats Theatre Company, Symphonic Band present their annual Holiday Card to the Community. Hosted by Al Jackson and Andy Hoefle, with a special appearance by SSC President George Dammer.

When: Saturday, Dec. 10 - 10:00 a.m.

Where: , 18705 Dixie Hwy, Homewood

Cost: FREE

What: You can find Santa on the first three Saturdays in December at Thomas' Photographic, located at 18705 Dixie Highway.

Holiday Cookie Walk

When: Saturday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Where: Downtown Homewood

Cost: $5 donation

What: Walk through quaint downtown Homewood and collect your holiday cookies for your holiday get-together! Each business will offer a collection of sweet treats. Each business will offer individual specials. For more information, log on to www.dhba.biz.

When: Saturday, Dec. 10 - 9 a.m.

Where: , 18120 Highland Ave, Homewood

Cost: $6

What: Music, merriment and wishes for holiday toys will be found at this event for ages 6 and under and their parents. Bring your children to visit with Santa and enjoy doughnuts, milk and orange juice. Get in the spirit with songs, face-painting and a special gift from Santa. Free Holiday Concerts at H-F

Where: , 999 Kedzie Ave., Flossmoor, Mall Auditorium

Cost: Free

What: Area residents are invited to attend several free concerts this month at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. All the events are held in the school's Mall Auditorium, located at 999 Kedzie Ave., Flossmoor, and feature musicians and singers from the school's extensive Fine Arts Department.

  • Guitar & Percussion Concert: Saturday, Dec. 10, 2-3 p.m.
  • Viking Band Concert: Saturday, Dec. 10, 3-4 p.m.
  • Viking Orchestra Concert: Saturday, Dec. 10, 4-5 p.m.
  • Winter Choral Concert: Sunday, Dec. 11, 3-5 p.m.
