The H-F Park District statement noted President George W. Bush proclaimed Sept. 11 as Patriots Day and the American flag should be flown at half-staff.

The ceremony – anticipated to last about 30 minutes – will include opening remarks before the existing flag at Patriots Park is removed from its post, according to an email from district marketing and PR manager Brett Rush.

A new flag will be raised, then lowered to half-mast in honor and memory of those who perished, Rush said, before the ceremony concludes with the pledge of allegiance and brief closing remarks.
