The  and the H-F Patch Facebook page were filled with H-F Patch readers' comments and announcements this week. Here are some of the highlights:

In honor of July being National Ice Cream month, this week's editions of  and  were both dedicated to the tasty frozen treat. Here's what readers had to say about ice cream in and around H-F:

Sam and Jakes in Tinley Park is fantastic! We go there a lot for their soy ice cream flavors, which are a big treat for my husband. It would be great if an ice cream store closer to home would offer soy ice cream also.

: We LOVE Zarlengo's! We try to limit ourselves to twice a week, unless there is a special reason to go on another day. Funny thing is that we can almost always find another special reason! My husband gets the chocolate soft serve (not easy to find in Homewood) almost every time we go and my daughters and I have a difficult time finding a favorite gelato because they are all so good. I think my favorite is raspberry chip. It is our happy place!

: try the almond joy gelato @ Zarlengo's!

: Zarlengo's coconut gelatin!

: I love ice cream! Gayety's in Lansing is probably the best around though. : )

The  created a Homewood Days feedback website.

Since the event was and Facebook page, many readers were interested in letting the Chamber know, directly, what how they felt about Homewood Days. Here's what readers had to say about the site launch:

: I'm disappointed that the website is labelled Homewood Days 2012. Does that mean that despite the overwhelmingly negative feedback and many public calls to suspend Homewood Days, the HACC is forging ahead with plans for next year? Why should the public believe their feedback will be listened to by the HACC, when the key decision has already been made without their input? Seems just a tad disingenuous and, frankly, arrogant on the part of the HACC.

: What an ugly website, would you want to go to a street fair whose site had a bunch of clip art animals and low quality designs on it? My guess is that next year will be like this year, as long as people go (even if they have to bus them in from the city) they can keep running this. Another bad move by the chamber and the mayor.

: Are you listening to yourselves? The chatter is getting a bit shrill. You're picking on the aesthetics of their website, now? Maybe Patch needs to do an article about HCAA and what they do. That may clear up some misconceptions, because the conspiracy theories are just getting ridiculous, now. They're not a governmental organization. The Village of Hwd's board does not appoint people to the HCAA. Membership in the HCAA is made up of business owners in at least three villages. And they're not an organization that needs to have public meetings... And OF COURSE HCAA is planning on having Homewood Days next year... Hopefully they'll do it better next year and will spend a lot of time between now and then telling us what they're going to change and talking us into coming back. And WHY WOULDN'T they listen to the feedback they've been getting? What possible reason would a fund-seeking organization have for ignoring our discontent? Is it in their best interest to make us happy? Darned right it is, but no, they don't need your permission or sign-off on future plans.

Homewood Softball and Baseball Teams Score Big

Bryan Dunican announced this week on the H-F Facebook page that "the Homewood heat 12u softball team is going to Kentucky for regionals".

Rikki Barrett Faso added to the excitement by announcing on the H-F Facebook page that the boys team also played well, finishing "second overall and are the Northern IL State Champs".

Congratulations to all of the dedicated and talented H-F athletes!
