Josie Norman Schedueled for Lung Transplant Surgery Tonight

Months into a battle against the clock with advanced cystic fibrosis, the Homewood teen will receive new lungs at the University of Chicago around 10 p.m. tonight.

Homewood teen Josie Nordman has received lungs from a donor and is scheduled to go into surgery for a transplant tonight at 10 p.m. Saturday, according to a Facebook post from her mother.

"The day has finally come. We have been waiting silently all day for the final word and it just came. They have LUNGS for Josie and the her surgery should be at about 10 pm tonight," Nicolle Nordman said on Facebook.

Josie Nordman's been near the top of the lung transplant list for months now. Her crippling cystic fibrosis was nearing its most advances stage and she's been battling the clock hoping for this very event.
