As temperatures sink to dangerously low levels, the risk of bursting frozen pipes is on the rise.
The good news is, you can help prevent that from happening. Here’s a list of tips from the Olympia Fields Police Department to keep your pipes flowing throughout this dangerously cold weather.
- Eliminate drafts near plumbing work by sealing any leaks
- Open cabinet doors to plumbing to allow pipes to warm up
- Run your faucets often, especially if the plumbing runs along the outside wall (you can also let the water trickle from the faucet)
- Make sure your home is properly heated
