Photography Studio, Freedom Riders, and Sunny Weather: Feedback Friday

A weekly update to help you keep up with the news updates and conversation on H-F Patch's Facebook page and what H-F Patch users are saying in the comments section.

Thanks to all of the H-F Patch readers who have commented on articles or on the H-F Patch Facebook site this week! We've had some great feedback and are up to 233 Facebook fans! Here are some of the highlights from last week:

Colin and Angela Thomas just opened up Thomas' Photographic Services, Homewood's newest storefront on Dixie Highway, in effort to showcase their business and The Homewood Project. Here's what H-F Patch users had to say about it:

: Very cool shop and the events throughout the day were cool ... Loved the live music coupled with the wine tasting next door! My kid also lives his action figure portrait.

: I have two of their prints hanging on my wall that I purchased from their booth at Homewood Fall Festivals, I also purchased one for a friend and was planning on buying another one this fall if I see one I like. I dig this guy's work.

Best of luck with the storefront - hope it brings in new business!

: Much love, happiness, and success to you both. Your Homewood Project sounds like a wonderful idea. I'm sure your mother is looking down on both of you and is very proud, Colin. Good luck.

Homewood native and Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Laurens Grant brings the thrilling stories of American history to life in the PBS documentary The Freedom Riders. Here's what our readers had to say about it:

: What a well-written article about this super-talented young woman from the Southland! I saw the Oprah show on THE FREEDOM WRITERS and it definitely perked my interest in watching the show on the 16th. Kudos to Nate and Joyce Grant who obviously nurtured and supported their daughter in the best way possible.

: Yea for Homewood 153, the high school, the community, and the Grant family! And to Patch for a fine article. Thanks, Editor Ryan Fitzpatrick.

: What a great idea for a series of articles. I certainly enjoy this compelling story and can't wait to read the next.

Facebook Weather Widget Commentary

According to the Patch Weather Widget, it got up to 91 degrees this week in H-F. We asked our Facebook fans what they did on this beautiful day and got some hilariously unexpected, albeit brutally honest, answers:

Patrick J Keating: Worked to pay the ComEd bill

Debbie Hart: Sweat

Barry Latham: Would it be possible to store some of this heat and save it for later?

Natasha Schwarz Bergeron: I'm not complaining because we're all tired of winter but what on earth happened to Spring in the Midwest?

Thanks to everyone for their responses! Make sure to tell your friends to "like" Homewood-Flossmoor Patch on Facebook!
