Homewoods French Farmers Market

This Saturday marks the big day when Homewood launches its new French Farmers Market! Excitement is buzzing all over town over the completely revamped Farmers Market, which will now be held in the Village Hall parking lot. Here's what you had to say about it:

Jessie Eisenstein Jury: Looking forward to organic herbs and veggies from Bloomberg Gardens! Also, I love getting local honey. Can't wait for the Farmer's Market on Sat.!

H-F Patch is up to two bloggers in our "Local Voices" section. This week, Steve Ploum introduced us to his vision for Southland local music and Tabitha Stine shares her passion for running. Here's the comments so far:

(For Steve): Rock on, Steve! There's a real emerging cultural scene here in Homewood and the Southland, and live music is a huge piece of that. The more we all support the arts, the stronger our community becomes, both as a destination and as an economic engine. Thanks for being an important part of that!

(For Steve): Steve. It is amazing how rich and colorful the tapestry of musical fabric is on the southside of Chicago. We are lucky to have people like you to help grease the wheels of the musical machine. Thanks. wiz

(For Tabitha): I am a married mom of two little girls, and I work a full-time job outside the home as well. I got back into running last year, and here is how it has helped me: I have reclaimed a part of my former self, I have been able to manage stress better, and I have been able to finally shed some baby weight. However, it is still a struggle to make the time. The kids get sick, we get sick, work deadlines, home stuff, conflicting priorities, and the list goes on. However, I keep at it even if I just run once a week. Running is too valuable to let it slip away. Sometimes my running goal is to just get out and run two to three times a week even if it's only for 20-30 minutes at a time. The goal is really to just get out there and keep it going. Other reasons I love running: appreciation of the outdoors in all seasons and it's a budget-friendly sport! It's very touching that you have shared your love of running with your kids. I loved reading your stories about your adventures with them!

If you haven't read the story of the day Cindy Ritchie won Patch's nationwide Mother of All Sweepstakes, you are seriously missing out.

(And if you're really too lazy to read it, there's a video.)

Here's what a reader had to say:

: Awww! This is a GREAT story and I'm so happy Cindy has been given some good news considering her past couple of months. I am an H-F native and love the people there! They are so real. Congratulations Cindy and I hope you get some relief for your daughter soon.

Homewood French Market Returns May 21

Debbie Hart: Can't wait to get some fresh peas. Hope somebody has some. Also, love the cheese guy!
