Registration Open for Annual H-F Summer Circuit

Signup has started for the three races through Homewood and Flossmoor.

The H-F Racquet & Fitness Club (the Club) has opened registration for its annual Summer 5K Circuit. The Circuit consists of three races, made up of flat and fast courses, winding through the quaint Chicago Southland communities of Homewood and Flossmoor.

Each of the 5K races begins and ends at a different site in the Homewood-Flossmoor communities: Apollo 5K at Apollo Park, centrally located in Homewood; the Run For Freedom at Lions Club Pool and Park, located across from the Izaak Walton Preserve; and the Flossmoor 5K at Leavitt Park in downtown Flossmoor.

Participants may sign up for the three-race Circuit or individual races. The best value is the complete three-race circuit. The Circuit races are spaced apart to give participants the possibility of improving their time with training offered at the Club. The initial race, the Apollo 5K, is held on May 17. Followed by the popular Run for Freedom on July 4 that traditionally kicks off the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Family Fun Fest. The Circuit concludes with the Flossmoor 5K on September 6 as the official start of Flossmoor Fest.

The Chip Timing system, a professional timing system, utilized at each race calculates the overall and age group prizes. Award presentations will be held at the end of each race with the overall circuit awards conferred at the final event, the Flossmoor 5K. Each pre-registered participant will receive a unique shirt for that race. Each race will also serve post-race refreshments.

The main sponsor for many years, Conroy Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, will be on site at each race to provide warm-up and cool down therapeutic services to race participants. Participants can take advantage of a staff to which physicians refer patients from all over the Chicagoland area.
