Update: Snow Advisory Cancelled

Homewood-Flossmoor won its game of "snow roulette."

UPDATED at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The National Weather Service cancelled the lake effect snow advisory it issued Monday afternoon shortly after 4 a.m., Tuesday morning. A wind chill advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. today.
_________
Monday night is going to be a game of snow roulette, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

A “heavy band” of lake effect snow is forecast to hit Southeastern Cook County beginning 11 p.m. Monday night and lasting until 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

But there’s a catch.

The NWS says the snowfall region will be less than 10 miles wide, so conditions can vary dramatically in a short distance. The heaviest hit areas could get 6 to 12 inches of snowfall. Temperatures are also expected to plummet and “dangerously cold wind chills” may exist.

Residents are advised to stock up on food and supplies Monday evening.

Do you think we’ll experience the brunt of the storm, or will Old Man Winter spare H-F?
