On March 29, Peter Doran, Professor of Earth and Environmental
Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago, held a lecture at
about Human and Robotic Science in Extreme Aquatic
Environments of the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctic for a packed house
of scientists, engineers, and science enthusiasts.
Doran’s inspiration for the event stemmed from an article he read on a
plane about science lectures being held in bars and restaurants all
over the country. Doran was intrigued by the concept “because it would
provide an outlet to communicate science to the public inc a casual
user-friendly environment.”
Future lections will be held at and on the last Tuesday of each month.
